The CCW Class for All of Central Florida
Central Florida is home base for USS Academy. Since 1997, we have been the region's trusted firearms training academy, and our CCW class has prepared more than 29,000 Florida residents to legally carry a concealed firearm. Every class combines classroom instruction and live-fire qualification — the two components Florida requires for the Concealed Weapons License — into a single training day.
Students attend from Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake, Volusia, Brevard, and Polk counties. Our primary partner range is located in Saint Cloud (south of Orlando) and is an easy drive for residents across the Central Florida corridor. Additional partner ranges across the region are activated seasonally based on demand. Every class ends with a state-approved Certificate of Completion issued the same day.
Understanding CCW, CWP, and CWL
If you are searching for a Central Florida CCW class, you may have encountered three different abbreviations: CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon), CWP (Concealed Weapons Permit), and CWL (Concealed Weapons License). In Florida, all three refer to the same license — the state permit that allows you to legally carry a concealed firearm. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) officially calls it the Concealed Weapons License.
USS Academy uses CCW, CWP, and CWL interchangeably throughout our materials because students search using different terms. The class we teach is one class, meeting one state requirement, issuing one certificate that FDACS accepts for the Concealed Weapons License application — regardless of which abbreviation you searched to find us.
Classroom and Live-Fire
The CCW class moves from Florida's legal framework into hands-on handling and live-fire qualification across a single training day.

Students from Across Central Florida
Our CCW classes run with a mix of experience levels — first-time shooters next to experienced carriers next to military veterans and law enforcement officers completing the formal state requirement. Instructors teach to the room. Every student, regardless of background, leaves the class with the same state-approved Certificate of Completion.
Women make up a significant portion of our Central Florida CCW students, and we run select sessions under female-led instruction. Families enroll together and receive group pricing at 6 or more students. Workplace teams and community organizations book private sessions on request.
