LEO Program Built by LEOs
USS Academy's law enforcement firearms program is instructed by officers who have carried the badge, stood the line, and passed the state and federal qualification standards themselves. It is not a civilian academy running a rebadged LEO offering. Every LEO block is led by a current or recently-retired Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor.
Our program exists because Central Florida departments — especially smaller municipal and college police agencies — consistently need access to structured re-qualification, continuing-education, and advanced-skills training beyond the basic POST standard. USS Academy has been filling that gap since 2008.
Whether you are a patrol officer renewing annual quals, a detective who needs structured low-light, or a tactical team member preparing for SWAT selection, USS Academy delivers the training blocks most agencies either cannot offer internally or cannot schedule at the frequency officers actually need.
What the LEO Program Covers
Our LEO curriculum is organized around four pillars: Patrol Pistol Qualification, Patrol Rifle Qualification, Low-Light and No-Light Operations, and Tactical / SWAT-Preparatory Blocks.
Patrol Pistol Qualification covers full duty-pistol qualification courses tuned to common agency standards in Florida (Orange County Sheriff's Office, Orlando PD, Seminole, Osceola, UCF PD, FDLE baseline). We shoot actual cleared qualification courses, not facsimiles, so your documentation is defensible.
Patrol Rifle Qualification covers carbine rifle manipulation, zero confirmation at 25 and 50 yards, transition drills, vehicle-based firing positions, carbine-to-pistol transitions, and agency-standard qualification courses. We support M4-pattern rifles, SBRs, and AR-pattern pistols as run on-duty.
Low-Light / No-Light Operations bridges into our night vision program for officers carrying agency-issued or personal NODs. Weapon-mounted light work, identification-before-engagement protocols, handheld-light techniques, and low-light shoot/no-shoot decision drills are all covered.
Tactical / SWAT-Preparatory Blocks include dynamic entry live-fire, team movement under NODs, concealment and cover discipline, and high-stress decision making. This is selection-prep, not a substitute for an accredited SWAT school.
Designed for Sworn Officers
This program is restricted to sworn law enforcement officers with current credentials: municipal, county, state, federal, college, and tribal officers are all welcome. Credential verification is required on booking — badge ID or agency employment letter.
Retired officers are welcome. Reservists and part-time officers are welcome provided they have current qualification status. Military personnel looking for similar training should see our Military Firearms Training Orlando program instead.
Continuing Education Credits
USS Academy is a long-running Florida firearms training provider. Officers regularly use documented training hours from USS Academy blocks to satisfy agency-specific continuing-education requirements and re-qualification benchmarks. We issue detailed course documentation including date, duration, content covered, and instructor signature.
If your agency's training coordinator needs a formal pre-approval letter, we can provide one on request. Many Central Florida agencies already have USS Academy-authored training documentation on file.

Is this program restricted to sworn officers?
Yes. You must present current or recent badge credentials or an agency employment letter at booking. Civilians are welcome in our standard firearms training programs instead.
Can I use documented hours for my agency's continuing education?
Yes. USS Academy issues documented Certificate of Completion records including date, hours, content, and instructor signature. Most Central Florida agencies already recognize USS Academy documentation.
Do you run agency-specific qualification courses?
Yes. We routinely run OCSO, OPD, Seminole, Osceola, UCF PD, and FDLE baseline courses. Contact us before booking to confirm your agency's specific course is in our active rotation.
Do you offer SWAT selection prep?
We offer SWAT-preparatory blocks including dynamic entry live-fire and team movement. This is preparation, not a substitute for an accredited SWAT school.
Are low-light and night vision blocks available?
Yes. Low-light / no-light is part of our standard LEO curriculum. Officers with agency or personal night vision can advance into our dedicated night vision program.
