The CWP Class Orlando Trusts

If you have made the decision to carry concealed in the state of Florida, the first step is real training — not a classroom-only online checkbox, and not a shoot-one-round-and-sign-here rubber-stamp course. USS Academy's CWP class in Orlando is the original training program that has prepared more than 29,000 Florida residents to legally carry a concealed firearm, confidently handle real scenarios, and pass the state-required proficiency standard. Every class is taught in person, includes live-fire range work, and ends with a state-approved Certificate of Completion that meets the requirement under Florida Statute 790.06(2)(h).

Training is delivered by certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, U.S. Marine Corps instructors, NRA Instructors, USCCA Instructors, and Florida Class K Instructors. Students leave the range knowing how to load, draw, aim, fire, clear malfunctions, reholster — and they understand the legal weight of every decision they make while carrying a firearm under Florida law.

What the CWP Class Covers

Florida's concealed weapons permit requirement is clear on paper but has real implications the moment you carry live. The Orlando CWP class is built to give you both: legal knowledge and physical capability.

Florida Law

Statute 790 (firearms), Statute 776 (justifiable use of force), reciprocity, carry zones, prohibited places, stand your ground, castle doctrine.

Firearm Safety

The four universal rules, safe storage, vehicle transport, family-in-home considerations, de-escalation fundamentals.

Mechanics & Handling

Loading, unloading, grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, reholstering, malfunction clearing.

Live-Fire Qualification

Range safety brief, instructor-supervised live-fire, state-required minimum competency demonstration, target documentation.

Scenario Awareness

Home defense, public environment thinking, decision-making under stress. Real-world framing, not TV thinking.

Application Roadmap

How to submit your Florida CWP application to FDACS or a county tax collector's office once your Certificate of Completion is issued.

Designed for Every Learner

If you are a Florida resident (or eligible non-resident) 21 or older with the legal right to possess a firearm, the CWP class is the correct starting point. The class is built for every learner — from first-time gun owners who have never held a pistol, to seasoned shooters who need the certified course to complete their application, to military veterans and law-enforcement officers whose backgrounds already give them handling skill but who want the formal state requirement met.

We specifically welcome women stepping into training for the first time, and we regularly run sessions with a majority of female students led by instructors who understand that learning to carry is a personal — often deeply emotional — decision, not just a transaction.

Why Students Choose This Class

Other concealed carry classes exist. USS Academy stands apart because of a consistent set of operating standards we refuse to drop regardless of class size or schedule pressure.

Florida CWP Requirements

You must be 21 (or 18 with qualifying military service), a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, legally able to possess a firearm, and able to demonstrate competency with a firearm through a certified training course with live-fire. Your Certificate of Completion from USS Academy is accepted by FDACS across all 67 Florida counties.

For the full official FDACS requirements, visit fdacs.gov. The relevant Florida statutes are Chapter 790 and Chapter 776 — USS Academy's class covers both in plain English.
